Shri Ajay Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchchirappalli unfurled the National Flag

On the occasion of 74th Independence Day Celebrations, Shri Ajay Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchchirappalli unfurled the National Flag today (15.08.2020) at the Quadrangle, Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Tiruchchirappalli. The function was attended by senior railway officers and staff of Tiruchchirappalli division.

During his brief address, Shri Ajay Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager highlighted the achievements of Tiruchchirappalli Division.

The Highlights of the Tiruchchirappalli Division

In the freight sector, we have loaded 10.91MTs of different types of commodities to various destinations across the country in the Financial year 2019-20 registering an improvement of 9% over the corresponding year. This is the Highest ever loading in any financial year achieved by Tirchy Division. The Division has also loaded 2.905 MTs of freight including the essential commodities during the pandemic period from April 2020 to July 2020.  The Division has also achieved 90% punctuality in the financial year 2019-20 which is 5% higher than the corresponding period of last year.

In passenger amenities, retiring rooms at Tiruchchirappalli Junction have been renovated / refurbished with improved amenities. All 103 stations provided with Wi-Fi facility. 100% LED lights in stations, service buildings and Railway Quarters has been achieved. Eight express rakes out of 13 rakes primarily maintained at Tirchy division have been converted with Uthkrisht standard coaches.

Further, Tirchy is the First division in Southern Railway to complete Bio toilet fitment in all the coaches including all kinds of departmental stocks and complete fitment of natural ventilation system in all bio toilet fitted trains. Tiruchchirappalli Division is the second division in Indian Railways and First Division in Southern Railway to implement E-office.

Subways have been commissioned at 4 locations and eliminated 4 manned LC gates in the current financial year 2020 and work in progress for 5 more subways. Speed of Thanjavur–Goldenrock down line increased from 95 kmph to 110 kmph. CCTV based Rolling in Examination has been introduced at Tirchy Junction. Foot over Bridge (FOB) works at 19 various stations are in progress. Railway Electrification works between Mayiladuthurai–Thanjavur and Electrification work between Nagappattinam–Velankanni in progress.

The Railway employees were also thanked for their efforts in all achievements of   Railway. They have been implored to re-dedicate themselves for betterment of the Division and system in the coming days.
