Shri John Thomas, General Manager, Southern Railway conducted inspection of various stations in Tiruchchirappalli Division and reviewed the Division’s performance. Shri Ajay Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager of Tiruchchirappalli Division, other officers and staff accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.

Shri John Thomas, inspected Karaikal railway station and enquired about the amenities and facilities available for the passengers. Later, he visited the Karaikal Port and had a brief meeting with the Karaikal Port Authorities.

At Thanjavur, General Manager checked the passenger facilities and amenities available at the station. He also, inaugurated the Running Room for train Loco Pilots and Guards at Thanjavur. The newly inaugurated Running Room is fully air conditioned with 22 rooms (18 rooms for men and four rooms for Women) is built at a cost of Rs.2.81 crores. The Running Room is provided with facilities necessary for providing proper rest and comfort to the Loco Pilots and Guards.

Later on the day, General Manager, Southern Railway accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager and other senior officials took part in the Valedictory Function of the Annual Railway Safety Week Celebrations held at Multi Disciplinary Zonal Training Institute (MDZTI), Tiruchchirappalli.

Shri John Thomas also addressed the Press and Media at Karaikal and Thanjavur Railway station and detailed about the developments taking place in Tiruchchirappalli Division and progress of various projects in the region. General Manager also interacted with Passenger Associations and commuters at various railway stations and received their representations during the course of inspection.
